Mac Grove Painting completed a large-scale exterior painting project on a newly constructed multi-story apartment building in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The building’s facade features James Hardie fiber cement textured panels — a durable, modern siding material that requires specialized surface preparation and coating products to ensure long-lasting adhesion and protection. Mac Grove’s crew applied a masonry primer as the foundation coat, followed by a Sherwin-Williams Conflex elastomeric topcoat, a premium finish specifically engineered to bridge surface irregularities and withstand the harsh freeze-thaw cycles of the Minneapolis climate.

Given the building’s considerable height, accessing the full exterior required both a 198-foot boom lift and suspended scaffolding systems, allowing the team to navigate every elevation of this large residential structure safely and efficiently. Working at height on a new construction site in an active urban corridor demanded precise coordination, strict safety protocols, and careful attention to detail to deliver a clean, consistent finish across the entire building envelope. The combination of advanced access equipment and professional-grade coating materials ensured that every panel was properly primed and finished to spec.
